Homo Habilis
The hominid Homo Habilis, otherwise known as "The Handy Man", lived around 2 million years BCE. This form of early man that came after Australopithecus Afarensis were biped as well, but they were taller than the "Southern Apes". Homo Habilis were around 4 feet tall, males being usually no more than 4 ft. 3 in. These people were stocky and had long ape-like arms. They began to live in groups because that made it easier to survive. This species were nomads, so they moved around a lot as they followed animals not only to hunt but also because herds of animals often headed in the direction of water. Animals also led people to edible vegetation, which was key for survival since these early people did not hunt much yet. This hominid group was possibly the first to create tools made of sharp rocks or bones. The Handy Man was more advanced than Lucy, and that helped them survive.
